On November 25, 2006, undercover NYPD officers fired into the car of Sean Bell after an altercation (involving threats with firearms) outside of a Queens strip club. When one of the NYPD detectives approached the vehicle driven by Bell, Bell struck the officer as well as the undercover police van with his vehicle. For Bell’s recklessness, he was the lucky recipient of 50 9mm rounds.
Despite the media circus around the trial led by the master of ceremony Al Sharpton and a limp-wristed, apologetic Mayor Bloomberg proclaiming Bell’s innocence, justice was correctly served.
