Time may have bestowed its Person of the Year accolade on Vladimir Putin and the AP may have selected the Virginia Tech massacre as “the” story for 2007 but we here at RWO have a different take on the year’s events. We ask ourselves who were the heroes of 2007?

A heavy debt of gratitude goes to our troops in harm’s way. Whatever your opinion may be on the war in Iraq, our troops did a stunning job of turning things around this year.  The “surge” appears to be working, much to the chagrin of the Democrat leadership who are now eating their words.  To our troops, may God Bless you and your families.

A hat tip must go to our fellow Americans, who shot down repeated attempts by our feckless leaders, both Republican and Democrat, in the federal government to pull the “amnesty” wool over our eyes.  Despite poll after poll indicating the American public’s lack of support for amnesty and a desire to get serious on securing our borders, our elites in all their infinite wisdom still don’t get it.  Thank you John Q. Public for making your opinion heard.

And lastly, Jim Broussard and Joe Horn. Two average Americans that came to our attention this past year because of their courageous actions. Disgusted with the state of affairs in America, Mr. Broussard and Mr. Horn took matters into their own hands — literally.  Mr. Broussard cut down a Mexican flag illegally flying above the U.S. flag on a Reno, NV cantina while Mr. Horn shot and killed two illegal aliens who were robbing his neighbor’s home.  In Mr. Horn’s case, the good folks of Pasadena, TX rallied to his side in the face of a predictable media grandstanding attempt from the ex-con, race hustler extraordinaire, Quanell X.  It appears from the rally video others are getting fed up with the status quo as well.  From our standpoint, that’s a good thing.  The more outrage, the better.

To Mr. Broussard and Mr. Horn, we salute you.  We are proud to call you our countrymen.
