Just finished reading The Day of Islam: The Annihilation of America and the Western World by Dr. Paul L. Williams which was published in April.   Surprisingly, I was unaware of the book’s publication until Newsmax pointed it out.  Having found one of Dr. Williams’ prior books (Osama’s Revenge: The Next 9/11, covering al Qaeda nuclear ambitions) extremely informative, I went to my local Borders to pick up a copy.   If only 10% of what Dr. Williams writes is valid, it should scare the hell out of any American.   Some of the key points of the book are as follows:

  1. Jamal al-Fadl, an al Qaeda (“AQ”) operative who turned himself in at our embassy in Kenya after a falling out with Bin Laden over money, confirms that AQ had purchased highly enriched uranium (South African in origin) from black market sources in Khartoum.  Implicated in the sale was a former Sudanese government minister named Salah Abdel al-Mobruk.  A canceled check for $1.5 million was introduced as evidence in the U.S. vs. Osama Bin Laden trial in February 2001, in which al-Fadl was a key witness.  Furthermore, al-Fadl testimony pointed to an AQ WMD lab (Hilat Koko) in Khartoum.  Sudan remains a grand Islamic theocratic experiment.
  2. al-Fadl’s testimony also provided insight into the founders and structure of AQ.   Of particular importance, the majority of AQ founders were of Kurdish decent which was overlooked by many in the media and intelligence community.  Many of the mujdahdeen fighters in the Soviet-Afghan conflict returned to northern Iraq and joined the Islamic Movement of Kurdistan and took part in the rebellion in 1991 that Saddam repressed with chemical weapons.  The AQ Kurds, under Abu Ayoub, an AQ founder, formed Ansar al-Islam (“Soldiers of God”).  Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a now defunct AQ operative in Iraq, found a base of support among Ansar al-Islam to conduct attacks against coalition forces.  It is also worth pointing out that Abu Ayoub, an organizer of AQ, along with other Kurdish AQ founders were not even mentioned in The 9/11 Commission Report.
  3. AQ, under the leadership of an emir, is governed by a shura, an Islamic council comprised of mullahs.  It is worth nothing that Abu Ayoub was AQ’s emir for several years.  The shura is comprised of Bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Muhammad Atef (killed by US forces), Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah (thought killed in Waziristan but is alive), Anas al-Liby (twice announced captured by the Bush administration but remains a fugitive), Saif al-Adel (responsible for training tribal fighters who ambushed U.S. forces in Somalia in 1993), Abu Ubaidah al-Banshiri and Mamdouh Mahmud Salim. Of the shura, only two have been killed or captured (Atef and Salim) as part of the War on Terror.  Salim is awaiting trial after stabbing two guards with a shank after a failed prison escape in lower Manhattan.  It is worth noting that Salim has been indicted as AQ‘s point man for nuclear weapon procurement.  He received no mention in The 9/11 Commission Report, not even a footnote.   According to Williams’ sources, both al-Liby and al Adel, remain safely sequestered in villas controlled by SAVAMA (Iranian intelligence service) in southern Iran.
  4. Williams writes that AQ, through a delegation of Taliban and AQ members, secured 20 portable tactical nukes from Chechen (Muslim) rebels for $30 million in cash and $700 million street value of number four heroin (produced in Afghanistan).  Russia’s Federal Security Service reported the transaction to the U.S. State Department.   It is worth noting around this time that al-Zawahiri, clean shaven and under the alias Mr. Amin, was arrested by Russian security police at the Chechen border in 1996.  He was ultimately released.  The weapons were apparently brought to secure Taliban facilities in Khost and Kandahar and were maintained by Turkoman nuclear experts as well as a nuclear physicist from the Iraqi Tammuz reactor, the one the Israelis destroyed in 1981.  (My note: we can only hope these weapons were destroyed or retrieved by U.S. forces during Operation Enduring Freedom.)
  5. While not new news, during the Cold War KGB agents had stockpiled suitcase nukes within the United States as first strike weapons.  The location remain secret but a chief archivist for the KGB indicated stockpiles in NY, CA, TX and MN.  The good news here is these weapons even if unearthed by AQ probably have not been properly maintained and may not pose an atomic threat.
  6. Dr. Williams estimates that Bin Laden spent between $60-100 million for the assistance of nuclear scientists from Russia, China and Pakistan. In addition, Bin Laden kept a score of SPETSNAZ (Soviet Special Forces) technicians on his payroll.  SPETSNAZ technicians are trained to operate suitcase nukes. In 1998, an employee at Russia’s premier nuclear laboratory in Savov was arrested for attempting to sell weapons documents to representatives of AQ and the Taliban.
  7. In 1999, two British MI5 agents of Arabic decent managed to infiltrate AQ in London. Ultimately they were sent for training in Afghanistan and ended up in Herat where they were taken to a laboratory were scientists were finishing the work on a radiological bomb.  The agents fled back to the West with several bomb making manuals, but the bomb was never recovered.
  8. On month after 9/11, a Pakistani operative, with ties to AQ, was stopped carrying a device in his car by Israeli soldiers trying to cross the Allenby Bridge between Jordan and Israel.  The device was transported to Dimona and examined at the Negev Nuclear Research Center. The bomb was the most sophisticated of all tactical nuclear weapons, a plutonium- implosion device developed by the KGB. This story failed to capture the attention of major media outlets in the U.S.
  9. The CIA pressed the Pakistani ISI to arrest accomplices of the operative who tried to smuggle the nuke into Israel. As part of the raids, one suspect said that two nukes had already made their way into the U.S.   This independently confirms a report received by CIA head George Tenet on October 11, 2001.   Each bomb contained 2 kilograms of fissionable plutonium, similar to the device confiscated on the Allenby Bridge.  One of the weapons bore the serial number 9999 and the Soviet manufacturing date of 1999.  Several other sources confirmed a score of nuclear warheads in suitcase had made their way to the U.S.  Shaykh Hirsham Kabbani presented testimony before the US State Department on January 1999 that 20 AQ nukes were already in America.
  10. On September 9, 2002, the Liberian-registered ship, Palermo Senator, was found to emit low levels of radiation when an FBI agent turned on his portable Geiger counter.  From Port Newark (NJ), the ship was ordered to sail six miles off the coast for inspection by a team of US Navy SEALs. The cause of the radiation was not determined but  Cheney was confined to a secure nuclear facility in Virginia as a direct result of the incident.
  11. In October 2001, a NJ Pakistani taken into custody by on immigration charges in the post 9/11 aftermath exhibited symptoms of radiation poisoning to which he ultimately succumbed.  Meanwhile in Israel, the Pakistani taken into custody at the Allenby Bridge began to manifest the same symptoms as the dead Pakistani from NJ.
  12. A satellite engineer for CNN, Eddy Maloof, uncovers a 25-page document called “Superbomb” in Kabul during November 2001.  The document was sent to a top nuclear scientist in the US.  Apparently, the manual detailed how to make a sophisticated nuclear weapon based on designs developed at Los Alamos during WWII.
  13. The U.S. raid on Turnak Farms near Kandahar airport turned up a recently abandoned nuclear complex.  Canisters of non-enriched uranium-238 were found.  In the command headquarters  a note was scribbled in Arabic that said “Victory is near.”
  14. The capture of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, AQ’s military operations commander and a key planner of 9/11 revealed a treasure trove of information, including a plan for the American Hiroshima – the simultaneous detention of nuclear weapons in 7 cities (Boston, New York, D.C, Houston, LA, Las Vegas and Miami). Planning was exclusively left to Bin Laden, al-Zawahiri, and a mysterious Dr. X, later identified as Dr. A.Q. Khan, father of the Pakistani nuclear program and national hero.
  15. The man commissioned as field commander of the next nuclear 9/11 is Adnan el-Shukrijumah (aka as Jaffar al-Tayyar or the “Pilot”).  This was confirmed by interrogation of AQ detainees and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.  He is a naturalized American who speaks flawless English, Spanish and Arabic, a experienced pilot (trained with Mohammad Atta in Florida) and a skilled nuclear technician.   To prepare for the mission, el-Shukrijumah and fellow AQ operatives (including Anas al-Liby) enrolled in McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. McMaster houses a five-megawatt nuclear research reactor.  Bit by bit, el-Shukrijumah was able to steal 180 pounds of nuclear material, enough to build several radiological bombs.  El-Shukrijumah mysteriously disappeared in October 2003. (Sidenote:  Dr. Williams is being sued for $4MM by McMaster University for pointing out this incident – http://www.paulwilliamsdefensefund.com/).  A BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) was issued by the FBI for el-Shukrijumah on March 21, 2004.  Several days later El-Shukrijumah was spotted at a Denny’s in Avon, Colorado. The owner called the FBI, but the agents were strangely uninterested.  El-Shukrijumah resurfaced at a major terrorist summit in Waziristan in April 2004, along with Abu Issa al-Hindi, a Pakistani technician whose company contained plans for staging attacks on Western financial institutions, and Mohammed Babar, who was charged with building the bombs for attacks in Great Britain.  Interesting to note, Babar is an American citizen, a resident of Queens, NY, and a member of the Islamic Thinkers Society, a group that burned the American flag during a demonstration at the Israeli consulate in NY in 2006 and held up a placard stating “The mushroom cloud is on its way.”
  16. Dr. Williams presents evidence that AQ has established a beachhead in several South American countries including Venezuela (under Chavez), Brazil, Peru and Mexico.  AQ operatives have testified to using the gang MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha) to smuggle nuclear supplies and weapons into the U.S through Mexico.
  17. The Canadian border is more porous than Mexico for AQ operatives.  There are 225 roads from Canada into the U.S. that have no border checkpoint. Canadian immigrant laws are so lax anyone even individuals with criminal backgrounds and bogus passports can claim ‘asylum’.  AQ operatives have used this loophole extensively. Anyone claiming asylum is granted entry and expected to appear at hearing which can be as long as 18 months away.  Fewer than 30 percent show up for their hearings.
  18. In 2006, Hamid Mir, the only individual to interview Bin Laden and al-Zawahiri in the wake of 9/11 said this: “As far as I know, they smuggled three suitcase nukes from Russia to Europe.  They smuggled many kilos of enriched uranium inside America for their dirty bomb projects.  They said in 1999 that they must have material for more than six dirty bombs in America. They tested at least one dirty bomb in the Kunar province of Afghanistan in 2000.  They have planned an attack bigger than 9/11, even before 9/11 happened.  Osama bin Laden trained 42 fighters to destroy the American economy and military might.  Nineteen were used on 9/11, 23 are still ’sleeping’ inside America waiting for a wake-up call from bin Laden.”

Interesting fact that I was unaware of: “In the wake of 9/11, FBI agents discovered letters in the luggage of the terrorists who had piloted three of the four doomed flights. The letters had been written by Mohammed Atta, who had distributed them to his fellow jihadists during their last meeting in Las Vegas. At the close of one of the letters, Atta wrote: “Know that the Gardens of Paradise are beautiful with its best ornaments and its inhabitants are calling you.” After the death of a suicide bomber, members of al Qaeda and other terrorist groups hold a joyous celebration and speak of the martyr’s death as a “wedding.”  In one of Atta’s suitcases that had failed to make it aboard American Airlines Flight 11, inspectors found a perfectly pressed white wedding suit with a sapphire blue necktie.

By the way, the title of the book, “The Day of Islam” is referenced from the Koran.  It is the time after the conflict between the House of Islam and the House of War (read the West) when all of creation will bow before the throne of Allah and utter the shahadah – “I testify that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.”
