Texas War Hero Helps Nab Suspects in Dog Shooting

     HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) – A highly decorated Navy SEAL who found his beloved yellow Labrador retriever shot dead outside his home helped capture the alleged gunmen following a high- speed chase through three counties.
     Marcus Luttrell stayed on the line with a 911 operator April 1 as he tried to catch the fleeing suspects during the 40-mile chase that reached speeds of over 100 mph.
     “I told them, ‘You need to get somebody out here because if I catch them I’m going to kill them,’” Luttrell said he told the operator, the Houston Chronicle reported.
     Police stopped the suspects and charged two men with cruelty to a non-livestock animal. The driver of the vehicle was cited for not having a license.
     There are at least five area dog killings in recent months that could be linked to the case, said Texas Ranger Steven Jeter.
     Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross for combat heroism in 2006. He is the lone SEAL team member to survive a June 2005 firefight with the Taliban in Afghanistan and was given a dog to help him heal after he returned from the war.
     “When I saw she was dead, the only thing that popped into my head was, I’ve got to take these guys out,” Luttrell said.

Glenn Beck continues to cover the Marcus Luttrell dog shooting incident in spite of a total MSM blackout on the matter.   Apparently, the media thinks Michael Vick was worthy of non-stop coverage but not even a passing mention for Marcus Luttrell.   Judging by the hits to this website, the MSM is once again overwhelmingly wrong.  People throughout this country have a remarkable level of interest in this story and the well-being of Marcus Luttrell.

Luttrell revealed today on the Beck radio show that he went on a mission once he learned the whereabouts of one of the perpetrators in the killing of his dog, Dasy.  He was radio silent for nearly a day.  Ultimately, Marcus’ better senses got a hold of him.   Sadly, he is now somewhere in the desert, alone, seeking solitude.

Luttrell sounds broken.  He has given everything short of his life for this country and he has received heartache as gratitude.   First, the confrontation with a leftist provocateur and arrest in NYC and now the killing of his dog, a symbol of his fallen SEAL teammates.

All this brings to mind the plight of the fictional American hero, John Rambo, in First Blood.   The events that have befallen Luttrell speak volumes about this once great country and directionally where this nation is heading.

Let’s hope for Marcus’ sake that justice is served.  And let’s hope that Marcus can find some semblance of peace.

Glenn Beck spoke at length on Marcus’ situation on Beck’s radio show this morning.  Marcus’ troubles have nothing to do with the NYC arrest that I speculated on in my last post. 

It seems that Marcus continues to suffer from injuries sustain during Operation Red Wing.  

Additionally, a group of men shot and killed Marcus’ dog ‘Dasy’, each letter representing former SEAL team members that were killed in combat with Luttrell.  Luttrell apparently confronted the armed men which led to a car chase through four counties before Luttrell was able to run the men’s vehicle off the road.   The men were arrested by Texas Rangers called by Luttrell in pursuit.   During the arrest, one of the men rather comically threatened Luttrell’s life. 

Apparently, the men responsible for killing Marcus’ dog were wanted in a series of dog shootings.

Glenn Beck will have Luttrell on his Fox News show today at 5pm ET to talk about the incident.   Beck promised to have mug shots of the perps.

Glenn Beck made a passing comment tonight that caught my attention at the tail end of his Fox News TV show on Friday. 

He said suggested that something has happened to Marcus Luttrell and he asked that we keep Marcus in our prayers.  As I was vaguely paying attention as Beck’s show was concluding, I believe he also mentioned Luttrell was in NYC when Beck spoke to him.

Marcus Luttrell was the sole surviving member of his SEAL team during Operation Red Wing in Afghanistan.  His best selling book, Lone Survivor, chronicles the ordeal he and his teammates endured during that operation.  For his valor, he received the Navy’s highest honor, the Navy Cross.

I was curious as to what could have happened to this great American patriot. 

I then remembered his speech at the 2008 NRA Convention when Marcus stated he was arrested in NYC for assaulting some left-wing maggot who provoked him at a NYC bar.   Here’s the video where Marcus talks about the incident back on May 16, 2008:

I came across some additional details of the incident (veracity not independently verified):

“So anyway, he [Marcus Luttrell] was at a hotel in New York downstairs at the bar talking to a woman. He’s wearing cowboy boots, jeans and a T-Shirt with the Flag of Texas on the back. A man comes up and pokes him in the back and asks if he “knows the murdering President is from the state of Texas”. Marcus tells the man that’s “Your opinion Sir” and continues talking to the woman. The man pokes a second time and asks “If all Texans are Murdering idiots like the President”. Marcus turns and tells the man “There’s 2 things you don’t disrespect, Texas and my mama” and turns to continue talking to the woman. The man pokes him A THIRD TIME and says things Marcus won’t repeat about the country, the president and the troops. He pokes a Navy Cross Award Winner and continues to bash America.

Marcus says the next thing he remembered was having his hands around the guy’s throat outside the hotel pummelling [sic] him. Marcus was arrested and taken to jail.”

Given the notoriously long lead time associated with criminal trials in the Big Apple, perhaps Luttrell was in town for his court appearance when he spoke to Beck.  The ”assault” occurred a little over 10 months ago.

At this point, I have no notion of the extent or the classification of the charges that were brought against Luttrell (despite some preliminary digging).   Nor do I know the extent of injuries to the “victim”.   (It couldn’t be pretty when facing a built, 6′ 5″ Navy SEAL). Needless to say, assault is a serious offense and jail time is a possibility.

Furthermore, given the success of Luttrell’s best seller Lone Survivor, I suspect the loser and his attorney will also pursue a civil case seeking monetary damages.

I hope that I am wrong.   Beck indicated he would reveal more on Monday.

I heard this live on the Curtis Sliwa show on WABC talk radio Wednesday night so I can confirm the veracity of the Politico story.

STEELE: I would think that she would understand what i meant when i used the term hip-hop. I wasn’t talking literally the music industry — Ludacris or Snoop Dog becoming Republicans. Look — I’m not stupid I was born in DC on 8th Street. I know what’s up. I know what time it is. I used to hang out in Brooklyn and in the Bronx as a teenager. I know what the real world is like.

This is how the the leader of the GOP speaks?  I thought I was listening to an episode of the “Flavor of Love” when I first heard it.
 
Granted he’s being egged on by streetwise Sliwa, but come on…..playa, bling-bling…. friggin’???  Friggin’ is slang for a  profane act.
 
If the GOP does make a comeback in 2010 or 2012, it will be a function of Obama being an unmitigated disaster.   And if it does happen, it will be in spite of Michael Steele’s dumb ‘outreach’ ideas and his stupid hood-rat vocabulary.
